So you have a website. And you have either developed your own product or are an affiliate to someone elses product(s). But here is one of the most critical steps. GET AN AUTORESPONDER!
Yes I did mean to yell at you. Why? Because I lost hundreds before I found out how critical an autoresponder was to building an online business.
I wasted money on PPC advertising, ezine ads, classifieds, solo ads, and some of my article writing traffic went to waste because I failed to recognize the importance of an autoresponder.
Here is why an autoresponder is so important. It is a proven fact, backed by research that most people don't buy anything on the first visit to your website. As a matter of fact it takes them visiting over 5 times before they feel comfortable enough to take out their wallet and drop a couple dollars at your site.
So with that being said, how many people have you or could you lose by not following up consistently? Yeah, a heck of a lot. Way too many.
The second reason you want to utilize an autoresponder is just for the simple reason that you are building your list. This really is the whole point in being in business. Just think for a moment that in 3 years you wanted to sell your online business. How would you calculate the value of your website? By the amount of customers and prospects you have. And if you don't have a list of those customers and prospects, then your online business is pretty much worthless, isn't it?
To add to that, if you have a list of say 20,000 emails and you sent out a email selling a $30 product and got a 1% response that means your profit would be $6,000. Isn't that wonderful! To be able to shoot out an email whenever you need a little extra cash.
That's why having a good autoresponder is so, so, so important. You mind as well say that you shouldn't even market your website without having one. And I wouldn't.
